Shocking Void - Overview
| Objective: |
Shocking Void consists of 3 teams
battling in various arenas to conquer each other. In order to
conquer the other teams your must destroy the other 2 teams main
power source (Shards). Once you have successfully held your shard
at full power and the other teams shards destroyed for 30 seconds
or more, you win the game.
While in a match you gain experience points
for killing enemy players, biasing shards, healing team mates, and
a bonus for winning a match. You may also be awarded experience
from staff members for special events. The more experience you
have the more powerful your character becomes. When you gain a
level you also gain Research points which allows you to research
new spells for use in battles. |
| Shards: |
Shards are a teams main power source,
with out it players cannot resurrect when dead, and most classes
will have considerably less mana (power). |
| Classes: |
Shocking Void has 4 classes: The Archmage,
Healer, Sorcerer and Templar
The Archmage specializes in traps which can do damage to a
player when they run over them. They also have very powerful
spells that can drain power, as well as life from other players.
The Healer is not very
offensive, however they can hold their own 1 on 1 near their shard, where
there power is extremely dangerous. They also play a critical role
to any team, as if a shard is down they are the only other way a
team mate can come back to life after a death. Sanitarians also
get special buffs and healing spells for use on team mates.
The Sorcerer is perhaps the most offensive class in the game.
The Sorcerer's spells can deal massive amounts of damage. The
massive amounts of damage the sorcerer deals, on top of area
effect spells makes them key to success in massive fights.
The Templar specializes in mind and movement. They have the
ability to fly, jump extremely high, and run faster then any other
class. Their ability to get away quickly, as well as their instant
damage mind spells make them a very annoying, and very lethal
class. |
| Game Types: |
During the initial beta, and
probably release Shocking Void will only contain the
"classic" match type. However after the basic game play
is developed it is planned to expand the game to have several
match types. Everything described in this overview is for a
classic match, the match types below describe where the rules for
the matches will vary from the classic match.
Death Match The Death Match is perhaps one of the
greatest game types ever created for a computer game. We plan to
allow players to enjoy the game beyond just fighting other teams,
but actually fighting every player. The Death Match will be a
match where all shards are destroyed, and the game lasts for a pre
determined amount of time. All Players will fight for them selves
(no teams).
More to come... |
| Spell System: |
To add further customization to a
players character, each class has lists of spells available to
them. However they can only use spells they are powerful enough to
use, and have also researched. Every time a player levels they
gain research points. They can use these points towards learning
new spells. This means no one character will ever have every
spell, and most will choose to specialize in just a few spell
lists, rather then a little bit of every list. |
| Game Layout: |
Shocking Void is meant to be a very
user friendly game, with lots and lots of options. After a player
goes through an auto-update process, and log's in the game they
have a screen where they can choose their character, set
preferences, view a list of the top players (players with the most
exp), etc.
Once they have chosen a character they enter
the tavern, which is where everyone meets to start new matches of
games, chat, create / join guilds, engage in private chat's, etc.
From the tavern they may view a list of active matches and then join
that match. |
| Guild System: |
The Guild System will be a very
extensive system allowing users to do just about anything they
could possibly need. Once a guild is formed the leader of the
guild can designate if a member can invite others, kick members,
change various guild info, etc. The game will also have various
staff-hosted events for guild verse guild events. |
| Chat System: |
Communication is perhaps one of
the most important things in the success of winning a match, but
heck it's also just plain fun! Shocking Void does not lack at all
in this area. The game supports global chat to everyone in the
same match as them or in the tavern. It also supports Private
Messages to and from users, Private Tables or "chat
groups", and Team chat that goes to everyone on your team. |
